One of the small pleasures of strolling through Loyalist cemeteries is discovering the names. Euphemias and Hepzibahs and Cadwalladers catch one’s eye. At Fanjoys Point, among many others, we find Ebenezer Slocum, a lieutenant in the Long Island, NY militia, and Jacob Wiggins from Newburgh, Ulster County NY, who settled at Waterborough and became a magistrate.
